Cavite filmmakers Alvin Belarmino and Noel Escondo’s short film Nakaw has been bagging awards in prestigious international film festivals recently.
Nakaw, which stars Kristoffer King, won Best Director and Best Cinematography at the Short + Sweet Film Festival International Gala night August 24, 2017 at the historic Egyptian Theater in Hollywood California USA.
The film was also showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, and has recently been winning awards in local film festivals, including the Silver Award and the Design Excellence and Best Ensemble awards at CineSB Awards Maningning Category 2017.
We were fortunate enough to sit down and chat with one of the film’s directors Alvin Belarmino where we discussed their film Nakaw, his passion for filmmaking and everything in between.
Belarmino also gave pieces of advice to young aspiring filmmakers or those who want to get into the business, on where and how they should start.
He also tips filmmakers to stay true to their passion, and always maintain connection with their roots.
Of course Nakaw wouldn’t have been possible without the help of good people around them. Belarmino gave thanks to all those who supported them from the very beginning.
