More job opportunities are in store for Batangueños as German firm KnaufGips KG, is investing 50 million dollars for a manufacturing plant in Batangas that will serve both local and overseas markets.
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez announced the new German venture after he met KnaufGips KG managing partner, Alexander Knauf during the former’s visit to Germany.
Knauf Gypsum Philippines commercial production is anticipated to begin early 2018 and will initially provide 100 direct jobs, and has room for further expansion according to Secretary Lopez in a business conference briefing for reporters.
Knauf Gypsum Philippines Inc. broke ground last May in a six-hectare property for the manufacturing plant that will produce plasterboard and other building solutions.
“The new Knauf Gypsum Manufacturing Plant-Philippines allows local production and will provide the local economy with high-quality building materials. It will also further improve the living and working conditions of the country,” Thorsten Gottfried, First Secretary for Cultural Affairs of the German Embassy said of the manufacturing plant using the most innovative and sophisticated German equipment and technology in a DTI announcement.
KnaufGips KG, the leading manufacturer of gypsum-based plasterboard already has 150 production facilities and sales organizations in more than 60 countries, employing around 26,000 workers.
